An online course dedicated to saving horses by preventing suspensory injury disaster. No experience necessary. You can save your horse yourself.
When I (Dr. Renee Tucker) was in vet school, we were taught suspensory injuries were common. They were a normal part of riding. No one talked about why they were so common, and what might be done to prevent it. Basically the rider was blamed.
Yet if you look at the entire horse (not just the lower leg)... every horse with suspensory ligament injury has the same skeletal imbalances. And those can be fixed. When imbalances are fixed, suspensory injuries go away.
It's about time we figure this out. Suspensory injuries do not have to happen. Non-healing or recurrent suspensory injuries can be fixed.
The suspensory ligament itself is the cause of suspensory injury. False.
Of course when we see a lame horse with heat and swelling by the suspensory ligament, there is a suspensory injury. But the cause of that injury is NOT* the suspensory ligament.
Chronic overuse is the main cause of suspensory injury. False.
It is not the fault of the rider, or the type of riding, or the amount of riding, or the difficulty of riding, or anything else. The cause of suspensory injury is unrelated to overuse.
Medical treatments and rest are all that is needed to heal suspensory ligaments. False.
If the underlying cause of suspensory injuries are not treated, the horse will continue to "micro-tear" at his or her suspensory. Resulting in another injury, or never healing fully in the first place.
Average total cost in the western U.S. = $12,224.00.
Anyone who has been injured knows your muscles get weak from "resting." When it's time to get back to work, muscle strength is gone and has to gradually be worked back up.
A lot! Including but not limited to ultrasounds, exam fees, trip fees, x-rays, MRIs, injections, stem cell therapy, PRP therapy, anti-inflammatories, bandage wraps, and more.
After six months without training, you lose your mojo. Training restarts from the beginning. It can come back quickly. Hopefully you haven't had to pay for training while your horse was off.
"Is my horse in pain?" "Will he heal fully?" "What else can I do?" "What will I do if we can't ride like we used to?" The worry is the worst. It doesn't stop for months.
Anti-inflammatories such as bute and banamine. They may be necessary but they also harm the kidneys, liver, and intestinal tract.
And how exactly do you quietly walk a horse that's been confined for months without using sedation? Can you pay someone to do the hand-walking? What is your time worth?
What a nightmare for a horse. And how guilty we feel when our horse has to stay in the stall for weeks and weeks. It's not our fault but it's still awful.
Of course our horse's health and comfort comes first. But still, riding is part of connecting with our horse. You can't believe how much you miss it.
In the Save Your Suspensory course you will:
1) Discover the true cause of suspensory injuries. Hint: There are 3 parts to the problem.
2) Discover how to check your horse for these 3 potential problems.
3) Discover how to fix these problems yourself.
Sounds too good to be true? It's not. These techniques have been used hundreds of times to fix "non-healing" suspensory injuries. And then they healed.
People look at the suspensory ligament when it's hurt. Makes sense. But it's just the smoking gun. What pulls the trigger?
Deep in your horse lies an amazing array of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. The stay apparatus is complex but can be simplified to find the true cause.
Little known facts about ultrasound. Currently "king of diagnostics", the ultrasound isn't all it's reported to be.
This is what it's all about. Do you really want to risk losing six months (at least!) of riding your horse? If you follow this course completely, your horse will NOT injure their suspensory.* Ever.
Non-healing, slow-healing, never-healed-all-the-way suspensory injuries can absolutely be improved. Depending on the amount of scar tissue, your horse may be able to fully recuperate.
Treatment Options. Yes, you can search the internet for these. But it's nice to have them all in one place. And you get a holistic equine vet's "non-PC" opinion on each of them.
Did your horse literally just pull a suspensory? You found this course scouring the internet for what to do? Call your vet, then go straight to the Emergency Video and the Emergency section of the course notebook.

I've lived and travelled all over the US. Dr. Tucker is by far the best alignment specialist I've ever met. We do hunters and jumpers and none of our horses had suspensory injuries thanks to her caring. We did have some horses we purchased with previous suspensory tears. Dr. Tucker was able to get those horses back up to par, too. If you can't get Dr. Tucker, get her Suspensory course!
Online courses are new to me, but I really needed my roping horse fixed. No other vets were helpful, just wanted to inject, you know. Her course gave me everything I needed to keep him sound. Very pleased.
